STUDENT SUPPORT

If you have personal circumstances affecting your study, you can book an appointment with a member of our Administration Office (administration@sitcm.edu.au).

They are available for in-person and online meetings and can help with:

  • Adjusting to study and life in Sydney
  • Attendance issues
  • Enrolment variation
  • Coping with assessments
  • Looking after yourself
  • Managing your time
  • Motivation
  • Personal and health issues
  • Support for students in grievance cases
  • Workplace rights

If they cannot resolve an issue themselves, they will provide a referral (e.g., to SITCM’s external counsellor or these external support services).

For more information, see the Student Support Policy and Procedure.

SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL OR DISABILITY REASONS

We offer support to help you achieve your academic goals and minimise the impact that a medical condition or disability can have on your learning experience at SITCM.

Types of services and adjustments might include:

  • Access to special equipment during assessments
  • Assessment and exam adjustments e.g. an allocation of extra time, sitting the exam in an individual room
  • Alternative formatting
  • Individual additional tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Monitoring of progress
  • Support person

To receive support for medical or disability reasons, contact our Administration Office or Academic Support Officer. You will be asked to first have your health professional complete a Health Practitioner Report and provide supporting documentation. A support meeting will then be arranged with the Academic Support Officer to explore what options may be available to assist you.

Please refer to the Student Academic Support Policy and Procedure for additional information.

UNIT-SPECIFIC ISSUES

If you have questions regarding the teaching and/or assessment of a unit you are studying, please contact the unit lecturer. Lecturers are available by email or during consultation times in accordance with the Student Consultation Policy and Procedure. Feedback or comments about the delivery of the unit should be directed to the unit coordinator.
Contact details of a unit lecturer or coordinator can be located in the relevant unit guide.
