This qualification is suitable for students who wish to work as a professional remedial massage therapist. It provides students with advance TCM remedial massage and health assessment techniques for management of musculoskeletal health conditions.
Students who complete this course may decide to undertake further studies in the area of Traditional Chinese medicine, such as the Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (BTCM)
The course is delivered on a full-time basis over 51 weeks (4 terms). It comprises 28 weeks’ face-to-face tuition on campus (which includes classes and clinical practice), 9 weeks’ intensive block practice on campus, 4 weeks for assignment submission and 10 weeks for term break.
Classes comprise lectures and tutorials, which include discussions, case scenarios, case history analysis, demonstrations, and practical on-site clinic activities.
All practical clinic activities are undertaken at SITCM Teaching Clinic. There is no work placement arrangement for this course.
Assessment tasks include written tasks, demonstrations, group assignments and role plays.
Students must also spend a minimum of 200 hours in SITCM’s Teaching Clinic, where they will complete a minimum of 159 client massage therapy treatments. They will be observed and assessed by clinic supervisors, to ensure that they are able to successfully integrate the knowledge and skills required for actual clinical massage activities.
